Figuring out what to wear on a daily basis is a task in that of itself; never mind trying to decide what to wear for your senior pictures! That’s why I’m here to share the 4 key things you should consider when choosing outfits for your senior pictures!
Choose a Variety of Outfits
Make sure you’re choosing different clothing types, colors, and patterns. It can get a little repetitive if every outfit is the same color or same style (as in all dresses or all jeans) or the same pattern. Be sure to bring a couple of outfits to your senior photo shoot, so your final gallery shows a variety of images.
If you have one outfit that’s a dress, make sure your second outfit has pants of some sort (jeans, leggings, shorts, etc.) Another thing to keep in mind are necklines. Make sure the tops you’re choosing have different necklines so it doesn’t look like you’re wearing the same top in every photo.
Choose Outfits That Allow Movement
Choose clothing you can move in! When choosing your outfits, think about posing for your senior pictures. You want to make sure you can do different things like sitting, standing, and moving. Clothing that’s too tight or short can restrict your poses. For example, if you wear a flowy dress to your session, it will add a whimsical and carefree vibe to the photos, especially if we’re in a wildflower field.
Let’s Accessorize!
Incorporate accessories to add a finishing touch to your outfit. Necklaces, rings, bracelets, and earrings will be seen in your pictures, so make sure they coordinate with your outfits. Please keep your smartwatch at home unless it’s an important part of your outfit. Also something to note is to make sure you take off your smartwatch when you’re outside. You’ll wind up with a smartwatch tan line, and that isn’t an easy fix in Photoshop.
Add Layers
Adding layers to your outfit can bring your look together! Consider pairing a leather or denim jacket, a flannel, or a cardigan with one of your outfits, especially if you book your senior pictures during the fall.
